Keel Privacy Policy
Last updated: September 4, 2026
This page focuses on Keel. For Synap1e-wide privacy details and other app addenda, visit the main Privacy Policy.
1. Scope
This policy applies to the Keel app for iPhone and to Keel support or privacy messages you choose to send to Synap1e. Keel is an informational record-keeping tool, not medical advice. Website visits are described separately below.
2. Records stored on your device
Keel stores the compound names, dose units and amounts, schedules, dose logs, optional injection-site records, vial inventory, weight entries, side effects, notes, and preferences that you enter or confirm. Setup drafts remain in memory until an explicit save. Records and descriptive calculations are processed locally; Keel does not provide a Synap1e account or server-side health-record database.
3. No advertising, analytics, or tracking in the app
The Keel app includes no advertising or analytics SDKs and does not track people across apps or websites. It does not upload its health records, scanned-label images, recognized text, or Quick Log input to Synap1e-operated servers. An Apple Account may be required by Apple's App Store for purchases or restoration; it is not a separate Keel account.
4. Camera, text recognition, and parsing
When you choose vial-label scanning, camera capture and OCR text recognition use on-device Apple frameworks. Quick Log parsing also runs locally, including the on-device model where supported. These inputs are not sent to a Synap1e or third-party AI service. Extracted values are suggestions for you to review before saving; manual entry remains available.
5. Optional Apple Health integration
If you enable Apple Health integration and grant permission, Keel reads and writes body-weight data through HealthKit. The integration is limited to weight; Keel does not upload HealthKit records to Synap1e. You can revoke permission in Apple's Health privacy settings. Apple Health data and its deletion or synchronization are managed separately by Apple.
6. Optional local reminders
If you explicitly enable reminders and grant notification permission, Keel schedules local alerts from your saved schedule. The visible alert omits the compound name and dose amount. Delivery depends on iOS permissions and system settings; it is not guaranteed. You can change the schedule preference in Keel and notification permission in iOS Settings.
7. Purchases and subscription access
Apple handles Keel Pro purchases, billing, trial eligibility, renewals, refunds, and restoration through the App Store and StoreKit. Keel reads verified purchase-entitlement information to determine available features and keeps an access cache on the device. Synap1e does not receive your payment-card details from Keel. Active legacy monthly subscriptions continue to grant Pro access. Subscription cancellation is managed in Apple Account settings; removing the app does not cancel a subscription.
8. Exports, support, and Apple-managed backups
Records leave Keel when you deliberately export or share them or enable an Apple integration. The destination you choose has its own privacy practices. iOS may also include app data in iCloud Backup or computer backups under your Apple settings. If you email support or privacy contacts, Synap1e receives the message and anything you choose to include. Avoid sending sensitive records unless you deliberately decide they are needed for your request.
9. Retention and deletion
Local records remain until you change or delete them using the relevant app controls or remove Keel. Removing the app deletes its local app storage subject to Apple's system behavior; Apple Health records and Apple-managed backups are controlled separately. Because Keel does not upload its records to a Synap1e health database, we cannot retrieve or delete those local records for you. Support messages are retained only as needed to respond and meet applicable obligations. Send privacy questions to privacy@synap1e.com.
10. Visits to this website
These Synap1e website pages are separate from the Keel app. Website hosting, security, analytics, and performance services may process visit information under the general Synap1e website privacy policy. A website visit does not give Synap1e access to the health records stored inside Keel. The support form prepares an email in your own email client; you choose whether to send it.
11. App-specific addendum
Keel addendum
Keel keeps the plan you enter and your records on your device. Keel has no app account, advertising, analytics SDKs, or tracking. App records, label recognition, and Quick Log parsing are not uploaded to Synap1e-operated servers. Optional Apple services and actions you deliberately choose are described below.
