Yumbo Privacy Policy

1. Scope

This addendum applies to the Yumbo app for iPhone and iPad (listed on the App Store as Yumbo: Toddler First Words), and to Yumbo support or privacy requests you choose to send to Synap1e. Yumbo is offered in the App Store Kids category for ages five and under and is designed for children aged two to four, used with or without a grown-up beside them.

2. What Yumbo does not collect

Yumbo does not collect, store or transmit personal information from children or adults. There is no account or sign-in, no name, age or email is ever asked for, and the app contains no advertising, no analytics, no crash reporting, no third-party software development kits and no tracking of any kind. The app requests no system permissions: it does not use the microphone, camera, location, contacts or photo library. Every picture, word and sound ships inside the app, and Yumbo makes no network connections on any screen.

3. The microphone button

Yumbo's say-it-back moment shows a microphone button that invites a child to say the word out loud. It is a cue, not a recorder. The app does not access the microphone, does not perform speech recognition, and never captures, stores or transmits a child's voice. iOS never shows a microphone permission prompt for Yumbo because the app never asks for one.

4. Data that stays on the device

Yumbo stores one preference, whether sound is on or off, in the app's own storage on the iPhone or iPad. It keeps no record of which words a child has seen or heard and no history between sessions beyond that setting. iOS may include app data in an iCloud Backup or a computer backup under Apple's own settings and privacy terms. Deleting the app removes its storage from the device.

5. Children's privacy

Yumbo is built to be safe for a toddler to use alone. Nothing on a child's screen sells, links out, shows web content, or asks for information. Because Yumbo collects no personal information, it has nothing to share with, sell to, or receive from anyone, and no information about a child is ever used for advertising or profiling. Synap1e does not knowingly collect personal information from children anywhere; if you believe a child has sent us personal information through a support message, write to privacy@synap1e.com and we will delete it.

6. Purchases

Yumbo is free to download. If a purchase is offered inside Yumbo, it is sold and billed by Apple through the App Store and Apple's StoreKit, sits behind a parental gate, and never appears on a child's screen. Yumbo reads only the verified entitlement needed to unlock content and records that state on the device. Synap1e never receives your name, payment card or billing details. Plans are managed and cancelled in iOS Settings.

7. Speech and sound

Every word, cheer and prompt in Yumbo is a recording that ships inside the app. If a recording is ever unavailable, Yumbo falls back to Apple's on-device speech synthesis, which runs on the iPhone or iPad and sends nothing anywhere.

8. How the pictures and sounds were made

The characters and recordings inside Yumbo were produced by Synap1e before release with the help of AI image and voice tools, then reviewed by a person card by card. No AI runs on the device or in any service while the app is used, and nothing a child does is ever sent anywhere.

9. Website visits

If you visit this website, standard hosting, security and performance records may be generated by our hosting provider. The app itself never contacts this website.

10. Retention, deletion and your rights

Synap1e holds no data about Yumbo users, so there is nothing for us to retain or delete on your behalf. Everything the app stores is on your device and is removed when you delete the app. Support or privacy messages you send us are kept only as long as needed to answer them. Parents and guardians who have questions about a child's use of Yumbo can write to privacy@synap1e.com at any time.
