Who is Yumbo for?
Toddlers aged about two to four who are collecting their first words, and the grown-ups who sit beside them. There is nothing to read and nothing to set up: a child opens the app, feeds Yumbo a card and hears the word.
Does it collect any data about my child?
No. Yumbo has no account, no analytics, no advertising, no tracking and no network use on any screen a child plays on. The only things it stores are whether Yumbo Plus is unlocked and whether all thirteen free words have been played, and both stay on the device.
Does the microphone button record my child?
No. The say-it-back moment is a cue and a cheer, not a recording. Yumbo never accesses the microphone, never performs speech recognition, and never asks for microphone permission, so iOS never shows that prompt.
Does it work offline?
Yes, completely. Every picture, word, prompt and sound ships inside the app, so it works on a plane, in the car or anywhere without internet. The only screen that ever uses the internet is the grown-ups screen behind the parental gate, where Apple's App Store is asked for the plans.
Which words are inside?

Thirteen of them are free forever. A strip of little faces on the home screen picks a set; Yumbo always reopens on all the words you have.
Does it work on iPad?
Yes. iPad gets its own layout with bigger cards and characters, always full screen and always upright, so a small hand cannot rotate the app or shrink it into a floating window.
What is free, and what does Yumbo Plus cost?
Yumbo is free to download and thirteen words are free to play forever, with every part of the app working: the voice, the hopping letters, the object sounds and the say-it-back moment. Yumbo Plus opens all 214 words in all twelve sets. The plans and their prices are shown inside the app behind the parental gate, and Apple sells and bills them through the App Store. One purchase covers everyone in your Family Sharing group.
How do I cancel, or move Plus to a new iPad?
Subscriptions are cancelled in iOS Settings, under your Apple Account and then Subscriptions, not in Yumbo. On a new device, install Yumbo, tap the small padlock in the top corner of the home screen, pass the parental gate and choose Restore a purchase. Anything bought on the same Apple Account comes back.
